Royal Mail National Health And Safety Event For CWU Area Safety Reps Announced

As previously reported to all CWU Regional Health and Safety Forums, a National Joint Health and Safety Event will take place on Monday 24th March at the Hilton Hotel, in Coventry.

Dave Joyce, CWU’s National Health, Safety & Environment Officer advises in LTB142/14 that all CWU Area Safety Representatives (or their Substitute/Deputy if not available) are invited to attend. The Royal Mail National and Regional Safety Teams will be in attendance as will the National Safety Directors/Teams from Parcelforce, Logistics, International, RMSS. Unite/CMA ASRs are also invited.

Pic: Dave JoyceThis is a "Safety Community" event organised and hosted by Shaun Davis Royal Mail Group Director of Safety, Health, Wellbeing & Sustainability and is a follow-up to the recently concluded joint regional and business unit road-show health and safety 'drains-up' meetings held across the country with the CWU, CMA and Royal Mail safety teams.

All Regional and Business Unit Safety Directors/Heads and their Safety Teams along with the Royal Mail Group Central Safety Teams will be in attendance and participating as will the CWU National Health, Safety and Environment Officer and Policy Assistant.

Royal Mail's stated policy is to support and place great importance on the involvement of, the consultation with and the vital contribution of CWU Health and Safety Representatives and values the input of CWU ASRs/WSRs in maintaining and improving health and safety in the workplace which has proved to be a key factor in improved health and safety.

The key focus of this event will be to ensure alignment in effort, working to build improved relationships and good practice as a positive way towards the
Royal Mail and the Union working together most effectively on Safety and thereby improving health and safety standards at work and engaging the workforce.

The Event will also provide for an update on some key business health and safety problem areas and issues and joint Royal Mail/CWU Safety initiatives to develop Safety action plans safety improvement.

The invitation has been extended to all CWU Area Health Safety Representatives from across the UK based in Royal Mail Group to join the Royal Mail Central and Regional Safety Teams.
